Allison Costello is a diverse mover whose interest lies in unlocking the creative doors and allowing a flood movement to take over. Although she started late, Allison was determined to throw herself into any type of dance training she could get. While working towards her BFA in Dance at University of North Texas she trained in Ballet, Modern, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Tap, African and Bharata Natyam. But discovering Contact Improvisation was what affected the way she perceived movement the most. This fascination led her to attend Contact Improv festivals and study with founders like Nina Martin, Ray Chung, Lisa Nelson and Kirstie Simson. Allison continued branching out and pursued further training in hip-hop and contemporary. While in Texas she danced with Pedestrian Dance Movement, a contemporary hip-hop fusion company directed by Liz Collinsworth. In the same year Allison joined The Renegades, a competitive hip-hop team and Movers Unlimted, a contemporary ballet company..
Since moving to Los Angeles over a year ago, Allison has been a Work Study Intern at Movement Lifestyle. The community drew her in and the incredible talent has pushed her to where she is today. Along the way she has worked on various video projects and live stage performances to showcase new choreographers. But her most important new project has been hosting Contact Improvisation workshops. Through teaching the basics of weight sharing and facilitating a safe environment Allison hopes to create a community of dancers who connect and support one another.
